This new construction large rambler was designed and constructed to be all handicap accessible to accommodate the client's desire to build a home that they can enjoy into their later years after retirement. The clients owned the adjacent flat lot to their home which is where they wanted to build their new home. When the equipment moved in and onto the lot to start clearing it, the ground moved like gelatin. Cornice Construction started checking old topography maps of the area and discovered that the lot was in the location of an old ravine. The lot was filled with over ten feet of unconsolidated fill deposited during the development of the original plat 20 years earlier. Cornice Construction's experience with previous challenging lots guided the design process to a foundation on grade beams and piling.
